"From Lorries to Legends"

Why "Hard Work Pays" is More Than Just a Mom's Cliché

Picture This:
It’s 1969, and I had just landed a job at Bharat Electronics. Exciting, right? Except I had no idea where to stay. Enter my cousin, a postmaster stationed in Attibele—a small town straddling the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border. My cousin was my "lifeboat in a storm", offering shelter for almost a month’s time.

Each day morning; Forget Uber—my ride to work was a cargo lorry rumbling between Chennai and Karnataka. Imagine hopping on with a nervous grin, holding on to dear life, and finally getting off at MTR Hotel Circle. From there, it was a BTS bus to Jalahalli and straight to the factory on Day_01 and thereon till I found a rented house, it has been BEL Factory Bus pick-up and drop to&fro MTR Circle.

Life’s Pattern: Double the Effort, Double the Reward
Throughout my life, I’ve noticed a peculiar pattern. Things that come easily to others often demand ten times the effort from me. Sounds relatable? If you’ve ever felt like life hands you puzzles instead of straight paths, blame it on parental programming.

My mother drilled one mantra into my head:
"Only when you soil your hands will you reap rewards. Only Hard work pays; so work hard"

Fast Forward: Factory by Day, College by Night
Life was a relay race. Morning shifts at Bharat Electronics were followed by evening classes at Jagadguru Renukacharya Evening College. My mom’s second advice - no direction - rang in my ears:
"Don’t end up like your father—educate yourself, grow, and shine!"

So, while others watched TV, I juggled factory work and books like a caffeine-fueled trapeze artist.

Sign-Off
Life taught me this: Whether you're catching lorries or dreams, effort matters. And guess what? The journey becomes the reward.

P.S. Ever caught a lorry to work? If not, trust me—you’re missing an adventure!
