Good morning, readers! Welcome to Part Two of my life story. In Part One: God in Disguise or 30 Rupees and That’s My, I shared the humble beginnings of my journey. Many of you responded warmly, curious to know what happened next. Here it is—buckle up for a tale of ambition, a five-rupee admission fee, and some unexpected life lessons.
Picture this: I’d just finished my SSLC and had a few typing and shorthand skills up my sleeve. My big goal? To become a doctor. But here’s the catch—I had absolutely no idea how to make that happen! So, instead of medical school, I found myself wandering down Danvantri Road until I spotted a sign: Omkar School of Commerce. Intrigued, I marched upstairs and met the principal, Mr. Ramakrishna, hoping to continue my typing.
As luck (or destiny) would have it, he was willing to waive the five-rupee monthly fee in exchange for my help supervising the institute. Imagine it: a 16-year-old “supervisor” armed with nothing but a trusty typewriter and a dream. In a way, it felt like being promoted from a customer to a manager at a coffee shop—only with way more clacking and less caffeine.
Six months in, Mr. Ramakrishna, my unlikely benefactor, connected me with a local businessman who hired me as a typist at the grand sum of 60 rupees per month! To give you some context, my father’s salary, after 25 years of service, was only 83 rupees. That moment was my ticket to financial independence, and I never looked back.
Stay tuned for Part Three! And, as always, I’d love to hear your comments.
P.S. Ever realize that life sometimes leads you to strange doors, only for you to discover they open to something bigger than your original plan?
